In the first quarter of 2025, the performance of top communication apps on the Android platform in Nigeria showcased varied trends in revenue, downloads, and active users, according to Sensor Tower data.

Telegram maintained a consistent presence, with weekly revenue peaking at about $32K in early January before settling around $21K by the end of March. Downloads started at 86K and experienced a gradual decline, reaching approximately 83K. Active users fluctuated slightly, starting at 16.4M and ending the quarter at 15.9M.

Discord - Talk, Play, Hang Out saw a revenue peak of $14.7K in late February, with a slight decline to $11K by the end of March. Downloads saw a significant spike to 52K in January, followed by a decrease to 17.7K. Active users showed resilience, increasing from 595K to 635K towards the quarter's end.

SMS Virtual - Receive SMS had a steady rise in weekly revenue, peaking at $13K. Downloads showed an upward trend mid-quarter, reaching 18.4K in late January. Active users grew from 53K to 68K, demonstrating positive engagement.
